The Enchantment of the Visible The Members of the Portuguese Center for Serigraphy have distinguished the editions of Silva Palmeira's works, from which the currently displayed exhibition titled "The Love of the Visible" has emerged, as part of the celebration of the painter's 50 years of activity. In the current series of screen prints, landscapes inspired by a luminous Lisbon or Santarém, the artist develops the style to which we have become accustomed, with a virtuosity that seems to distill all sensoriality into warm and still moments that escape time, and in architectures where the mastery of a grammar of forms expands, which are the poetic synthesis of the real, its hidden alchemical figure, on the border of the dream, of which these beautiful images that we offer today are certainly superb metaphors.

Silva Palmeira

Born in Santarém in 1934, the artist began his artistic career as a ceramic painter in 1948. During this time, he studied drawing and painting with Ramos Ribeiro. He held his first exhibition in Goa. In 1977, he created the first designs for tapestry cards and formed the G.I.P. group with two other artists. In 1997, he received the Mérite et Dévouemant Français Silver Medal in Paris, and the following year he was awarded the Arts-Sciences-Lettres Bronze Medal in the same city. His works are represented in national and international collections, including the Civil Governments of Évora and Santarém; the Municipal Tourism Commission of Nazaré; the Museum of Angra do Heroísmo; the Sesimbra Gallery at the Ritz Hotel, Lisbon; the Montecatini Art Academy in Italy; the Portimão Gallery in Algarve; the Martins Correia Sculptor Municipal Museum in Golegã; the Armindo Teixeira Lopes Municipal Museum in Mirandela; the Gan Insurance Company in Lisbon; the Madeira Regional Press in Funchal; the Modern Art Museum of Caixa Geral de Depósitos, Lisbon; the Herouet Gallery in Paris; and the Montepio Geral Collection.
