The Seven States of Water

As part of the International Year of Water and within the context of the Multiple Impressions exhibition, the Portuguese Serigraphy Center presented this collection of works by painter Manuel Carmo, titled: The Seven States of Water. Variations on an element that the artist, in a refined and concise language of contrasting reds and blues, connects to human experiences and expectations.

Through his art, Carmo explores the different forms and states of water, capturing its essence and reflecting on its significance in our lives. The colors used in his work create a vibrant contrast, symbolizing the diverse emotions and perspectives associated with this essential element.

Manuel Carmo

Jorge Manuel do Carmo Pereira de Almeida was born in 1958 in Lisbon. He attended the Painting course at Ar.Co. In 2000, he received an Honorable Mention at the 1st Domingos Sequeira Painting Biennial. He was the creator of several urban installations in Lisbon and Braga. He also worked in the field of illustration, with several published books, and collaborated with international and national museums. In 2004, a DVD about his recent works was produced by Mandala. He passed away in 2015. Jorge Manuel do Carmo Pereira de Almeida was born in Lisbon in 1958. He studied Painting at Ar.Co and gained recognition by receiving an Honorable Mention at the prestigious 1st Domingos Sequeira Painting Biennial in 2000. Known for his captivating urban installations in Lisbon and Braga, he also left his mark in the field of illustration with numerous published books. His talent extended beyond national borders, as he collaborated with renowned museums both in Portugal and abroad. In 2004, Mandala produced a DVD showcasing his latest works at the time. Sadly, Jorge Manuel do Carmo Pereira de Almeida passed away in 2015.
