This artwork is featured in the Catalog Raisonné "Les Estampes de Xavier 2001-2022", published by Editions Boulamiel in 2023.

Nearly twenty years have passed since Xavier's first exhibition at the Portuguese Center for Serigraphy, accompanied by the serigraphic print album "Encontro ao Luar" with poems by Gonçalo Salvado and an opening by Maria JoĂ£o Fernandes. Now, Xavier returns to the CPS, to his gallery at the Centro Cultural de BelĂ©m, with a new exhibition titled "Le Jardin Circonflexe".

Born in France with Spanish origins, and coming from a family of artists, Xavier is the son of the painter Javier VilatĂ³ and the great-nephew of Picasso. Since 1976, he has been working as a painter, ceramist, filmmaker, and engraver, with his graphic work currently comprising over 550 creations.

The two serigraphs and the engraving presented here were produced at the CPS studio, accompanying the exhibition, and they are highly representative of Xavier's poetic universe. His work is characterized by lyricism, wonder, surrealism, and draws inspiration from the teachings of great masters such as Picasso and MirĂ³.

In this enchanting theater, we witness fleeting appearances filled with dreamlike density. Xavier's gallery of characters, drawn from adult fairy tales or children's fables, refuse to grow up and lose their connection to the eternal mirage of Paradise, which remains the essential source of the artist's poetry and imagination.
