Pantoja Rojão

Pantoja Rojão was born in Évora on December 28, 1943. As a self-taught artist, he has been dedicated to painting for 25 years while working as a doctor in Lisbon. He was a member of the Sociedade Nacional de Belas Artes (National Society of Fine Arts) and served on the board of the Sociedade Portuguesa de Escritores Artistas Médicos (Portuguese Society of Writer Artists Doctors) from 1994 to 1998. Throughout his career, he held 18 solo exhibitions, including notable ones at the Sociedade Nacional de Belas Artes, Palácio D. Manuel in Évora, Museu da Água da EPAL, and Casa Municipal da Cultura de Coimbra. He also participated in over one hundred group exhibitions, with highlights including the Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, Culturgest, Casino Estoril, Centro Cultural de Belém, Barcelona, and Recife. In 1999, he received two honorable mentions and the Mário Botas Painting Prize from the SOPEAM (Portuguese Society of Writer Artists Doctors).
His work can be found in public and private collections, including the Municipal Museums of Ovar, Portimão, and Viana do Castelo. In Lisbon, his art is displayed at the Museu da Cidade and the Museu da Água da EPAL. He is also represented in the Municipal Governments of Évora, Coimbra, Lisbon, and Oeiras, as well as in the Order of Doctors and the National Federation of Doctors. Pantoja Rojão published several serigraphs at the Centro Português de Serigrafia and Galeria Aparte.
He passed away on April 25, 2020.
