Born in Almada in 1963, he holds a degree in Sculpture from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Lisbon. Since 1992, he has been a founding member of the International Sculpture Center in Pero Pinheiro, where he began coordinating Stone Sculpture Initiation Courses in 1993. He has been exhibiting individually since 1987, in Lisbon, Braga, Madrid, Barcelona, Paris, and Brazil. He has participated in numerous group exhibitions in Portugal and abroad.
He has been awarded several prizes: in 1986, he received an Honorable Mention at the ESBAL Exhibition, 150 Years of Art in Portugal. In 1988, he received an Honorable Mention at the “Young Art” competition at the Casino do Estoril Gallery. He also won 2nd Prize in the “Monument of the Thermal Hospital” competition in Caldas da Rainha. In 1989, he won 1st Prize at the “Primavera Salon” at the Casino do Estoril, as well as an Honorable Mention at the same salon. In 1996, he received an Honorable Mention at the II Edinfor Sculpture Prize at the Casino do Estoril. His works are represented in public and private collections in Portugal and abroad.
