Born in 1959 in the city of Zamora, Spain, this artist initially pursued a career in engineering and philosophy. However, they eventually decided to abandon these fields and dedicate themselves exclusively to painting. They received their formal artistic education at the School of Applied Arts and Artistic Crafts in Madrid.
As a self-taught printmaker, the artist opened their own printmaking studio in 1984. In 1989, they established ‘M más M Ediciones’, and in 1990, they founded the printmaking and poetry magazine ‘Estacion Central’, as well as the center ‘Cruce, Arte e pensamento’. Their talent and dedication to their craft were recognized through various awards and honors. In 2003, they received the Valdepeña City Prize and the Castilla la Mancha Prize. They were also honored with the Extraordinary Queen Sofia Prize in 2001, the ‘Slovenija Umetnost Odprta za’ Prize in Slovenia in 2000, and the Vila de Aranjuez Prize at the Alcorcón Biennial in 1999. In addition, they were awarded the Maria de Salamanca Printmaking Prize in 1996 and the Union Fenosa Prize at the Zamora Biennial.
