Maria João Worm

Born in Lisbon in 1966, this artist studied Image and Audiovisual Communication and completed a professional course in Ceramic Modeling at the António Arroio School in 1985. They also finished an Introduction to Animation Film course at ACARTE in 1986 and graduated in Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Lisbon in 1996. Working as an illustrator and comic book author, they have participated in the Lisbon Comic Book and Illustration Salon in 1998, 2000, and 2004. Their latest book, “Classified Home Appliances,” was published in 2007 and the original works were exhibited at the Monumental Gallery in 2008. Their curriculum includes solo and group exhibitions in various mediums, and they have received several awards, such as the Xornadas de Ourense in 1990, Portuguese Navigators in 1991, Young Creators in the Illustration category in 1996, and the 3rd prize in category 1 at the Luzerner Comix Festival in 2000.
