Gabriel Garcia

Born in the island of Pico, in the Azores, in 1977. He lived on the island of S. Miguel where he attended Liceu Antero de Quental. Between 1994 and 1995, he attended the workshop of plastic expression – drawing and painting – at the Academy of Arts in Ponta Delgada, guided by the painter Filipe Franco. He graduated in Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Lisbon, where he developed knowledge in the field of printmaking. In addition, he has several training courses such as the I level of photography at Ar.Co and the course of scientific illustration at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon. His young artistic career includes several solo and group exhibitions, and some awards that attest to his progression and recognition: Honorable Mention Fine Papers – PAPIES AWARDS 2011, with the print “My Empire is in a distant country”; Honorable Mention Fine Papers – PAPIES AWARDS 2010, with the print “The Walk of Souls”; “Raymon Menager” Award, painting. 63rd Salon des Artistes du Hurepoix, Paris, 2009; Artur Bual Painting and Sculpture Competition (Amadora) – Honorable Mention for the work “God! Save America”, 2004; 1st Prize in painting “Man and the Sea”, included in the celebrations of Navy Day in the Maritime Zone Command of the Azores, 1996. His work is represented in various collections and private collections, already having a consistent group of followers of his work. The artist lives and works in Lisbon.
