Eduardo Nery

Born in Figueira da Foz in 1938, this artist has had a vast professional career in the fields of painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, tapestry, tilework, stained glass, mosaic, mural reliefs, urban pavement design, and color projects for architectural ensembles. He has received several awards in Portugal, including the recent Bordalo da Imprensa Prize, Visual Arts/95, and one of the Bento Pessoa Casino Figueira national prizes in 2007. Abroad, he has been distinguished with 6 awards in Italy (1975/1977) and Spain (1977). Among the honorable mentions, he received one in Monaco (1970), another from the Portuguese Critics’ Prize “Soquil” (1969), and also at the “I International Biennial of Óbidos” (1987). He was awarded the “Jorge Colaço” Tilework Municipal Prize by the Lisbon City Hall in 1987, 1991, 1992, and 1995. Since 1964, he has held over 40 solo exhibitions in Lisbon and since 1958, he has participated in more than 300 group exhibitions in Portugal and abroad. His work is represented in Portuguese museums, as well as in the USA, Taiwan, Canada, and Norway. He passed away in Lisbon in March 2013.
