Círia

José Manuel Círia was born in 1960 in the English city of Manchester. He emerged in the art scene in the mid-1980s and, especially during the 1990s, began to demonstrate a solid artistic maturity.

With an early international recognition, which was evidenced in 1992 through awards in various Spanish cities, Ciria has since then held numerous collective and solo exhibitions, as well as the publication of various texts, books, and monographic catalogs that delve into his work.

In 1996, the artist himself defined five fundamental points for the exercise of artistic doctrine: historical knowledge, assimilation of tradition, constant pursuit of innovation, personal experience, and lastly, personal artistic practice. And the truth is that he has revealed, both in his attitude as an artist and in his works, all five of these aspects.
