Caseirão

Born in Lisbon in 1961, the artist and researcher has spent a considerable part of his career focusing on the painting of constructed objects and cut-out supported artwork. In recent years, he has expanded his artistic reach into the domains of Drawing and Photography. He was previously represented by the Novo-Século Gallery in Lisbon.

Holding a postdoctoral specialization in Drawing from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Lisbon (FBAUL), along with a Ph.D. in Drawing and a Master’s degree in Art Theories from the same institution, he originally earned his bachelor’s in Painting from the Lisbon School of Fine Arts (ESBAL). His work straddles the line between drawing and photography, utilizing the camera as an artistic tool. His oeuvre is interdisciplinary, encompassing not just drawing and photography, but also painting, sculpture, and installation art.

Apart from his artistic pursuits, he has also served as a set designer for Portuguese Radio Television and currently holds a position as an Assistant Professor in the Drawing department at the Faculty of Architecture.
