Carlos Medeiros

Born in the Azores and currently residing in Lisbon, this artist began photographing in the 1970s but only started regularly exhibiting in the 1980s. They have participated in numerous group exhibitions, including those held at Espace Photo-Angle in Montpellier, France; The Bermuda National Gallery; and the Museum of Modern Art in New Bedford, USA.

Individually, they have exhibited at the Centro de Arte Moderna da Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, the Embassy of Portugal in Cape Verde, Mois de L’ Image in Castre, France, Galeria Palmira Suzo in Lisbon, Teatro Nacional Dona Maria II, Galeria de Exposiciones Vaquero Poblador in Badajoz, Spain, Casa da Cultura de Villa Franca de los Barros, Spain, Galeria das Artes de Ponta Delgada, Galerie Ombres Blanches in Toulouse, France, Centro Português de Fotografia in Porto, and Galerie Le Parvis in France.

Regularly, this artist also takes photographs for theater posters, especially in France. In 2005, they published the book “Tierras” with the support of the Deputación de Badajoz, featuring a dialogue between Godofredo Ortega Munoz and Carlos Medeiros, as well as texts by Michele Lepicouché.

Their work can be found in the collections of Galerie du Chateau D’ Eau in Toulouse, Teatro Dona Maria II, Cinemateca Portuguesa in Lisbon, Centro Português de Fotografia in Porto, as well as in numerous private collections.
