Carlos Farinha

Born in Santarém on March 9th, 1971, this artist currently works from his studio in Lisbon. He graduated in Sculpture from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Lisbon. Since 1998, he has been continuously creating and producing scenography for the Comic Festival of Amadora. In 2010, he co-founded “EPIPIderme, encounters around Performance” and regularly practices performance art. He has received several awards, including an Honorable Mention at the “International Biennial of Plastic Arts of Marinha Grande” in 2010. His work is represented in various public and private collections.

He has held several solo exhibitions, including “A Tribute to Chance” at the Augusto Cabrita Municipal Auditorium in Barreiro in 2015, “La vie en Rose” at Flores do Cabo in Pé da Serra, Sintra in 2014, and “A-MA-Gau” at IaoHin Gallery in Macau in 2014. His most recent colective exhibitions include “Kurdistan” in Diyabarkir, Turkey in 2015, “Schoneberg-Maleei-Pleiner” at Galerie Fahradburo in Berlin in 2014, and “Distortion” at Má Arte Gallery in Aveiro in 2013.

His art is characterized by its unique and thought-provoking nature, often exploring themes of identity and perception. By combining elements of sculpture, performance, and installation, he creates immersive and captivating experiences for viewers. His work has been described as both whimsical and profound, challenging traditional notions of art and inviting viewers to question their own preconceived notions. Through his art, he seeks to push boundaries and provoke conversations, inviting viewers to engage with the world in new and unexpected ways.
