Bravo da Mata

Abel Bravo da Mata was born in Lisbon. He studied Decorative Painting under the guidance of masters such as Abel Manta, Lino António, Frederico George, Estrela Faria, Querubim Lapa, and Luís Reis. Throughout his career, he held several noteworthy exhibitions, including: in 1981, the 1st Autumn Salon at the Casino do Estoril Art Gallery, Collective. The 1st Autumn Salon of Plastic Arts at the Ritz Intercontinental Hotel, Lisbon, Collective; in 1991, D’Arte Ditec Space, Silk Screen Exhibition, Lisbon, Collective; in 1994, Salvador Caetano Space, Painting, Ceramics, and Tapestry Exhibition, Lisbon, Collective; in 1998, “The Oceans”, New Image Art and Culture Gallery, Painting, Ceramics, and Video Exhibition, Collective. Sesimbra Gallery, Painting and Ceramics, Collective. 1st Biennial of Figurative Expression Art in Alenquer, Painting, Collective; in 1999, Centro Cultural de Belém, “Art for Timor”, Painting, Collective. Nova Imagem Gallery, Lisbon, Collective and in 2000 – Nova Imagem Gallery, “Woman of the 21st Century”, Lisbon, Individual. Cardeais Gallery, Lisbon, Collective. Axalink, Lisbon, Collective. He also held itinerant exhibitions in Madrid, Barcelona, Paris, Marseille, Rome, Florence, Hilversum, Cologne, New York, Washington, Houston, Tokyo, Belgium, and Mexico.
He passed away in July 2020.
