Allen Jones

Born in Southampton, United Kingdom, in 1937, this artist has a diverse background in the arts. Studying at the Hornsey College of Art and the Royal College of Art, they have received numerous titles and awards throughout their career. Notably, they were elected as a Royal Academician of the Royal Academy of Arts in London in 1986 and served as a Trustee at the British Museum from 1990 to 1999, becoming an Emeritus Trustee thereafter.

Their talent and dedication have been recognized internationally, as they were awarded the Jeunes Artistes Prize at the Paris Biennale in 1961. In 2007, they were also honored with an Honorary Doctor of Arts degree from the University of Southampton. Throughout their career, they have shared their expertise by teaching lithography, painting, and drawing at various prestigious institutions such as the Croydon College of Art, Chelsea School of Art, University of South Florida, Hochschule für Bildenden Kunst in Hamburg, University of Los Angeles, Irvine, UCLA, Banff Centre School of Fine Arts in Canada, and Hochschule der Künste in Berlin.

The artist has held numerous solo exhibitions in renowned museums and art galleries worldwide. Their work is represented in significant public and private collections, including the National Museum of Wales in Cardiff, the National Portrait Gallery in London, the Tate Gallery, the Victoria & Albert Museum, the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool, the Boymans van Beuningen Museum in Rotterdam, the Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon, and many others.
