SPECIAL EDITION 35 years CPS / Centenary of Amália Rodrigues
Amália Rodrigues is part of the gallery of the most emblematic figures of 20th century Portuguese and is the origin, like other great personalities of our artistic panorama, of a vast iconography, now enriched with a new repertoire of images, on the occasion of the centenary of her birth. A whole celebration, to which the Portuguese Center for Serigraphy joins by promoting the creations of artists for whom she was and remains an inexhaustible source of inspiration. Domingos Mateus decided to pay homage to the incomparable interpreter of the national soul, starting from her well-known Fado "Havemos de Ir a Viana", with music by Alain Oulman and lyrics by Pedro Homem de Melo. In the meticulousness of the lyrical and poetic language to which we are accustomed, between reality, poetry and symbol, we see the forms and evocative colors of popular imagery, of festivals and parties, anchors, ships, Galos de Barcelos, transformed by the colors of dream and fantasy, blue and gold, so characteristic of the author's painting.
