Ana Pérez-Quiroga (born 1960) was born in Coimbra, Portugal, and currently lives and works between Lisbon and Shanghai. She has been exhibiting regularly since 1999. Her work harmoniously combines the body, found objects, and her most intimate experiences. Her own home becomes the setting for a project she developed around the objects of her daily life, titled "breviário do quotidiano #8" (breviary of the everyday #8). In this context, we understand that the series dedicated to the camellia has a biographical dimension and a historical value that she has investigated. The motivation behind art is difficult to define, but as she suggests, it certainly stems from her childhood experiences and the enchantment exerted on her during a significant period of her formation by the presence of three beautiful camellia trees in the garden of her home in Beira. Along with this personal connection, the artist's visit to a camellia exhibition in Porto, which she photographed, served as the starting point for this serigraphy that utilizes nineteen color matrices.
