URBAN ESCAPES
Mónica de Miranda, born in 1976 in Amarante, lives and works between Lisbon and London. She has already developed several projects of public art and performances, with an international dimension, reflecting her interest in contemporary issues such as globalization and cultural hybridization. Through various mediums such as video, photography, sound, sculpture, and installation, the artist reflects on the driving forces of today's society, highlighting the tendency towards new forms of interaction between the social and the cultural. These interactions have the capacity to create new transnational boundaries, or "new geographies", as she calls them in her ongoing exhibition initiated in London. In these screen prints, we witness the portrait of urban migration to the countryside, a form of escape emphasized by the airplane motif.
