RAONEL'S HOMAGE TO THE PORTUGUESE GUITAR

Cuban artist residing in Portugal, Raonel has been establishing parallels between our country and his homeland, in this case exploring the proximity between stringed instruments from both countries, which he associates with the traditional Portuguese guitar that inspired the famous Franco-American painter Arman (1928-2005). In the artist's current intervened prints, the instruments serve as a pretext for a well-orchestrated play of lines, allowing the subtle chords and resonances of color between navy blues, ochres, and browns to stand out. Perhaps not by chance, this palette evokes the neighboring ocean, a characteristic of both Portugal and Cuba.
