PATRÍCIA NORONHA: AN IMAGINAL FLORA

The artistic journey of Patrícia Noronha da Costa (b. 1965), daughter of the well-known painter who passed away in 2020, has been marked by the dialogue between art and science, a stance that tends to abolish the boundaries between various disciplines of knowledge, of which she is a relevant example in our country. With a Ph.D. in Biology, she has had a successful scientific career that has not hindered, but rather encouraged her increasingly affirmed connection to the secret realm of artistic creation, which reveals itself in images of intense chromatic and vital intensity. Her meticulous gaze and attention to the details of the visible world are reflected in her digital prints on canvas and paper from the "Suspended Gardens" series, which she presents to us today. They are a kind of plastic radiography of exuberant vegetation, which rises from the roots to the stems and leaves of an imaginal flora, delighting the senses and the soul.
