Mushroom Dress 1999

Located at Dreieich Palace Garden in Frankfurt, Germany, this artwork by Regina Frank showcases her innovative approach to using dresses as a medium for artistic expression. In this particular installation, she transformed a dress into a living habitat for mushrooms, highlighting the organic growth and beauty of nature. The collage captures her fascination with the mushroom's intricate development, as well as the glistening droplets of water and the layered textures of the plant. Nature, with its unpredictable and uncontrollable nature, becomes a captivating way to cultivate art. The mushroom dress, serving as both a visually striking piece and a source of sustenance during the exhibition, required nurturing and care in its natural environment, emphasizing the significance of time and patience in the artistic process.
