Roberto Chichorro, born in 1941 in Mozambique and settled in Portugal, has established himself as one of the great lyrical painters of today. This artwork brings together central themes of the love universe, of which he is an exceptional interpreter. Under the sign of the moon, an invitation to dream and escape, the intense embrace of the couple sets the space on fire and infuses it with the soul of their own passion. This passion embodies the rhythmic and earthly, aquatic, terrestrial, and solar energies of a nature that seems to be an integral part of the silent and complicit city. This idyllic harmony, so characteristic of the artist's universe, celebrates 80 years by combining the wisdom of a poet with the magical innocence of childhood evoked in this image, as well as music, a constant in his art. Music, painting, and poetry in this painting of joyful contrasts of primary colors create the atmosphere of a reality experienced and dreamed, lived in dreams, dreamed in life - his greatest legacy.

From 1982 to 1985, he was a scholarship recipient of the Spanish Government in Madrid, focusing on ceramics (Taller Azul) and zincography (Óscar Manezzi). In 1986, he received a scholarship from the Portuguese Government, and has been living in Portugal ever since, dedicating himself exclusively to painting. Since 1967, he has exhibited individually and in collective shows, both in Portugal and in other European countries and PALOP (Portuguese-speaking African countries). He has received various awards and honorable mentions between 1973 and 2020. In 2012, he was honored at the multidisciplinary cultural event PLAST&CINE, organized by Editorial Novembro in partnership with the Cultural Axis of the Douro. He is referenced in several dictionaries of Portuguese painters and sculptors, as well as in national and international art magazines. He has also illustrated books by African and Portuguese writers. Color, vibrancy, exuberance, boldness, inspiration, unpredictability, adornment, figurative, registry, abstractness, freshness, and vigor are just a fraction of the many aspects that define his extensive body of work.
