★ Grand Prize Fine Papers - Papies Awards 2019

The swirling movement of the forms, their metamorphosis according to the hidden mechanisms of creation, a very vibrant chromaticism that favors primary colors, mark the solar adventure of Sofia Areal's images (b.1960). The form has as its horizon the infinite contained in the exaltation of lines and a luminous halo that aims for the perfection of the circle and perpetually escapes with rebelliousness and passion that connects the visible and the invisible. In her plastic grammar and in these individually intervened serigraphs with collages, a thousand suns explode in the chance flowers of drawing, circles within an expanding circle, fragments of a sun that seems to deny all darkness because it is its own luminous heart. A true "Yes" of art to the primordial energies that govern life and should inspire it.
