Paulo Arraiano
Paulo Arraiano, born in 1977, is an artist whose visual universe resides in a duality that merges the natural and the artificial, nature and urbanity, emergence and creation. In the intersection between these two seemingly opposite and exclusive worlds, Arraiano has managed to establish a new balance that emerges from the primal energy that flows between them and is at the root of his visual dialectic. He seeks society even before the reference to "man". A territory, a body, adrift in flows of energy.
Arraiano's artistic work has been focusing on the immaterial territory and its connection with the physical territory: emotional cartographies where the body acts as an extension of nature, through a record based on movement and the fluidity of the connection to the root, seeking to bring to the city the energy it tends to forget. In the artist's work, the detachment from the original artwork initiates an emotional wandering in a new dialoguing body/space, a crossing between urban cartography and the meridians of the human body, aligning premises for a work of "urban acupuncture". Seeking points of conflict, blockages, emotional and energetic flows to be returned to the geographical space.
In 2015, as part of the CPS's 30th anniversary, Arraiano curated the exhibition "1/81" at the Côa Museum, for which he created the serigraphs "Sediment S I" and "Sediment S II" at the CPS Studio.
