OBJECTS' LESSON
Marcello Nitsche (1942), painter, sculptor, printmaker, and professor, graduated in drawing from the School of Fine Arts of São Paulo (1969). Starting with printmaking, the artist would later dedicate himself to painting and installation as well. His interest in gesturalism led him to conceive a sculpture titled "Three-Dimensional Brushstroke" (Parque da Luz, São Paulo, 2000). In the present works, objects become a metaphor for the gestures and actions they are associated with. Objects of painting, brushes inside a glass, seemingly prisoners, but to which the blue color of the container grants an unexpected freedom. Between restraint and openness to the imaginary, between the gesture suggested by the water (the origin of life) that frees itself from a broken glass and the sketch of a new language, once again blue, the artist's creative adventure is summed up through the lesson of objects.
