A NATURE, A SPACE FOR DIALOGUE BETWEEN THE INTERIOR AND THE EXTERIOR

Ciuco Gutiérrez, in a somewhat surreal and Magrittean way of overlapping images without apparent connection, creates true scenarios of a magical dialogue and interrelation between the interior space of dreams and reverie and the exterior space of urban wandering or a complicit nature, capable of associating its beauty and splendor with moments of true ecstasy and contemplation of the infinite.

In these scenarios of splendid and immersive seduction, the lamp or the lampshade represents a "lighting" of symbolic meaning that is associated with the awakening of the senses and consciousness in an alienated society, oblivious to the deep and ancestral bond with nature.

According to Liaño and in line with a modern aesthetic, photography is conceived not to reproduce reality, but to produce images of the interior reality of its authors, which "use" the landscape to externalize an idea of that same landscape. While for Ciuco Gutiérrez, who takes a more poetic stance, there is a metaphorical connection between "lamp, light, illuminate, landscape, and earth," Liaño, on the other hand, claims a militant position denouncing attacks on the environment and fighting for its defense.

However, both are committed to a relationship in the realm of art and photography, between the inner world and the outer world, which becomes their expression, after being "shaped" by the unique perspective of these two exceptional photographers. Ciuco Gutierrez

Born in Torrelavega (Cantabria) in 1956, this artist created his first images with a distinctive personal style in 1983. He established himself in the world of photography with his aggressive use of colors and ironic expressions, which became his signature. His compositions left no one indifferent. In 1986, he held his first solo exhibition at the Moriarty Gallery in Madrid, and since then, he has exhibited both in Spain and abroad. Alongside Ouka Leele, Alberto García Alix, Javier Vallhonrat, and Joan Fontcuberta, he was one of the first photographers to bring photography into art galleries and showcase his work at ARCO. His work revolves around the staging of spaces and places, where imagination plays a fundamental role in his intimate view. Through objects, paradox, and color, he recreates a singular world of dreams. Since then, he has held around a hundred solo exhibitions, both in Spain and abroad. His work is represented in important private and public collections, including the National Museum of Contemporary Art Reina Sofía in Madrid, the La Caixa Foundation in Barcelona, the Banesto Foundation in Madrid, and the Northern Collection of Contemporary Art of the Cantabria Government, among others.
