THE LESSON OF OP ART
The retrospective exhibition in 2003 at the Tile Museum in Lisbon revealed, since 1961, the various facets of Eduardo Nery's career, in tapestry, tiles, mosaics, and stained glass. Having initially started his artistic expression through gestural drawing, the artist quickly evolved into an aesthetic influenced by Op Art, within which he would make a name for himself to this day, showcasing his work in important and already historic public art projects. Mastering various technologies, the artist has been building his creation on the study of optical phenomena, synthesizing geometrically the luminous impressions that metamorphose into chromatic games of infinite plasticity and mobility, like the ones documented in these present serigraphs - variations of color that demonstrate the versatility and invention of Eduardo Nery, a major name in 20th-century art in Portugal.
