In her latest work that combines screen printing, engraving, collage, and digital printing, Maria Beatriz draws inspiration from the gardens of Holland, with their various atmospheres throughout the day, under the sign of the heart. The heart, a solitary hunter of images, pays homage here to the enchantment of a complicit nature, capable not only of sharing dreams and desires but also of recreating them in the shade of the branches of a leafy tree that encapsulates the mystery and secret beauty of life.

Maria Beatriz

Born in Lisbon in 1940, this artist studied at the Cooperativa Gravura in Lisbon and at Ateliê 17 in Paris, under the guidance of S.W. Hayter. They obtained a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Rotterdam. Throughout their career, they were awarded several grants by the Dutch Ministry of Culture and the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. Their work is included in various collections, both in Portugal and abroad. Tragically, this talented artist passed away in July 2020 at the age of 80 in Amsterdam.
