Dialogues with Solitude: The Reflection of the Mirror

According to the artist, "The Reflection of the Mirror," the title of the serigraphy we present, is based on the cycle of her painting "Echoes and Resonances." Just as the sound leaves its resonance that the ear captures and the memory keeps, the artist's portrayed states of mind also vibrate across the entire range of subtle emotions and intimate dreams. Dreams of love, or their reverse, dialogues with solitude that this image seems to portray, where in the central figure, two confused faces dissolve without truly uniting.

Teresa Ribeiro

Born in Lisbon, this artist studied Textile Arts at the António Arroio School of Decorative Arts and holds a degree in Design from the Lisbon School of Fine Arts. She has taught Contemporary Tapestry courses at the Casa da Juventude e da Cultura de Alverca do Ribatejo as well as in her own studio. She was a member of the Cooperative of Culture "Arte da Tapeçaria e do Têxtil" (ATT) until 1988 and currently works as a Visual Education teacher. Her works can be found in both public and private collections in Portugal and abroad. She is a member of the International Academy of Contemporary Arts in Belgium and the Association of Artists of France.
