Antonio Seguí, a prominent figure in international narrative figuration, has been based in Paris since 1963, where he has been influenced by the underlying currents of contemporary art that have shaped his artistic journey. His paintings reflect the realm of fantasy, filled with the fictions and dreams that reside within him. This fiction, unveiled by the painter, is now present in his current creation of serigraphy, capturing the enchantment and magical truth of children's fables, while simultaneously revealing a biting critique, depth, and merciless analysis of the adult world. The figurative expression exudes an assumed naivety, with schematic drawings and bold lines contrasting against smooth backgrounds devoid of perspective. The figures move freely, without the artist revealing any concern for scale or spatial definition, blending together in a labyrinth that mirrors our everyday experiences.

Antonio Seguí

Born in Córdoba, Argentina, on January 11, 1934, this artist completed his studies in Painting and Sculpture in Spain and France. Their first solo exhibition in Argentina took place in 1957. Throughout the year 1958, they traveled extensively through South and Central America, and in 1963, they permanently moved to Paris. Over the course of their career, they have presented numerous exhibitions in Europe, the USA, Japan, and Latin America. Their works, influenced by the Neo-Figuration movement of the 1960s, reflect a strong social satire. In the 1980s, the artist created a character - Dr. Gustavo - who became a prototype of the alienated man in the urban world and a recurring figure in their work, embodying their ironic perspective on contemporary daily life. The artist has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions worldwide, and their work is represented in various private and institutional collections, making it a part of the holdings of many museums in Europe, the Americas, and Asia. They have been honored with several important awards, starting from 1957 until the present day.
