José Pádua, born in Beira, Mozambique in 1934, has been residing in Lisbon since 1977 and has been exhibiting his artwork individually since 1962 in Mozambique and since 1964 in Portugal. In 1980 and 1981, he was awarded the 2nd and 1st Prizes, respectively, in exhibitions about Lisbon themes by the City Council. He has worked as a sculptor and in tile painting, creating murals in South Africa and Mozambique. In this serigraphy artwork, he recreates the mythical figure of Don Quixote, the champion of impossible causes in a universe of dreams and lyricism.
