Leonel Moura

Leonel Moura, born in Lisbon in 1948, is a pioneer in the application of Robotics and Artificial Intelligence in art. Since the beginning of the century, he has created several robotic painters. The first paintings made in 2002 with a robotic arm were featured on the cover of MIT magazine dedicated to Artificial Life. RAP, Robotic Action Painter, created in 2006 for the Museum of Natural History in New York, is part of the permanent exhibition. His other works include interactive installations, generative art, 3D, Augmented Reality, "swarm" paintings and sculptures, and the play RUR by Karel Capek, featuring 3 robot actors, premiered in São Paulo in 2010. The Robotarium, inaugurated in 2007, described as a zoo for robots, was the first of its kind in the world. He has recently exhibited at the Grand Palais in Paris and the UCCA Museum in Beijing. He was appointed as the European Ambassador for Creativity and Innovation by the European Commission. In the realm of art multiples, he has achieved an innovative profile in the editions produced with CPS. From the series of the 4 seasons using Voronoy mathematical diagrams, to the first engraving created by the ISU robot, to the first screen print from a work created by the RAP - Robotic Action Painter robot, to the "Altamira" series, an edition of 30 original drawings by a RAP robot, to the Voxel screen print with Augmented Reality, and to the recent first NFT. He has held exhibitions and conferences in important international cities such as Paris, New York, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, and Beijing.
