Francisco Ferro
Born in 1954, in the Alentejo village of Ourique, Portugal, this artist studied Decorative Painting at the School of Decorative Arts António Arroio and graduated in Painting from FBAL.
In their recent works, there is a return to figuration, to artistic drawing said to be traditional. In fact, the works from the 90s onwards have increasingly lived between the dichotomy of figuration/abstraction, through the contrast between meticulous drawing of the figures and the almost random treatment of color, translated into ink stains.
Currently residing in Amadora, this artist practices artistic activity as a painter and engraver.
They have exhibited individually and collectively since 1975.
They have held 16 solo exhibitions and have participated in over a hundred group shows.
They are represented in national and foreign museums, institutions, and collections.
They have been awarded the Manuel Filipe Prize - 4th National Exhibition of Small Format from Viragem Gallery, Cascais - 1990.
2nd Prize ex aequo - Contest for Young Artists - Religious Theme - Sanctuary of Fátima - 1990.
