Margarida Cepêda

Born in Lisbon in 1959, the artist went through the António Arroio School and later studied Fine Arts in Lisbon, where they completed their degree in 1983. They portray the feminine polarity in a magical way and "fight" against the suppression of figurative painting, embracing symbolism like no other. They were the first artist to join the "Art for All" project, as they believe art should be shared without snobbery or elitism. Their fundamental references in painting include Leonardo da Vinci, but they were also strongly influenced by landscape painters such as Georges de La Tour, Turner, and Friedrich, as well as Manet and a significant portion of the pre-Raphaelite painters, Blake, the Symbolists, Gustav Klimt, the art of Mucha, and the sculptures of Rodin and Brancuzzi. They have held several solo exhibitions and have participated in various group exhibitions.
