Mónica Fuster

Mónica Fuster was born in Palma de Mallorca in 1967. She holds a degree in Fine Arts and a PhD in Art and Thought from the University of Fine Arts in Barcelona. In 2003, she presented her thesis “Study of Hermetic Iconography in 16th Century Alchemical Treatises” at the same institution. Among the recognition and support she has received are: a scholarship awarded by the Pilar y Juan Miró Foundation, Mallorca, in 1996; a sculpture scholarship from the Saint Martins School of Arts, London, in 1996; finalist of the Premi Ciutat de Palma, Palau Solleric, Mallorca, in 1997/98; residency scholarship at Talleres de S’Hort, Mallorca, in 1999; “Dos-Entrecuerpos” scholarship at Arteleku, Bilbao, in 2000; Altadis Foundation Open Spaces Award, ARCO’02, in 2002.

Her work is part of collections such as the La Caixa Foundation and the Ferran Cano Gallery in Barcelona; Lluc Fluxa Gallery and Marior Gallery, Pollensa, in Palma de Mallorca; the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art in Turégano, Segovia.
