Gast Michels

Born in 1954 in Luxembourg, the artist studied at the Institut Supérieur des Beaux-Arts Saint-Luc in Liège, Belgium from 1974 to 1980. Since the 1980s, they have exhibited both individually and collectively in Luxembourg, Sweden, the Netherlands, France, Germany, Italy, Denmark, Russia, Korea, Portugal, Poland, Finland, Japan, Ireland, and the United Arab Emirates. Among the various awards they received, notable mentions include the First Prize in Painting at the Biennale des Jeunes in Esch/Alzette, Luxembourg in 1983, the Raville Prize in Luxembourg in 1987, and the First Prize in the Siemens Competition in Luxembourg in 1996. Their work is represented in important public and private collections such as the Musée d’Histoire et d’Art, Luxembourg; Ministère des Affaires Culturelles, Luxembourg; Ministère des Travaux Publics, Luxembourg; Palais de Justice Européen, Luxembourg; Banque Internationale à Luxembourg, Luxembourg; Société des Banques Suisses, Luxembourg; Mobil Oil Company – Luxembourg; Siemens AG, Luxembourg; Mercedes-Benz S.A., Luxembourg. The artist passed away at the age of 59 in 2013.
