Frank Meyer (b. 1949, Toronto, Canada) has been a creative artist since a young age, but not always with paints and brushes. In school, he began playing saxophone in big bands and has been a jazz musician and improviser ever since. For 25 years, he had a creative career writing and directing video productions.
In 2005, a few years after starting to draw and paint, he held his first solo art exhibition. Encouraged by his success, Frank returned to studying to pursue an artistic career professionally. He has been a full-time artist ever since.
It was in printmaking classes that he began making collages, cutting up his linoleum prints and adding pieces of colored paper, rearranging them into new compositions… much like improvisation in jazz. It became his primary artistic medium.
Recently, he has taken a complete turn in transforming these compositions into limited edition screenprints. For Frank, the medium doesn’t matter, art is a wonderful and always surprising creative journey.
