Maria João Fernandes

A renowned art critic and essayist, the artist’s lifelong passion for poetry has always been their primary form of expression. For over twenty years, they have dedicated themselves to engaging in a profound dialogue with the world of art. Their connection with European culture has flourished through their work at the Serralves Foundation, Museum of Contemporary Art, where they have curated international exhibitions and symposiums. They have also published several studies and act as the exhibition coordinator for two art galleries in Lisbon. Notable publications in their extensive portfolio include “Commented Pocal” (Rei dos Livros, 2006) and “Julio/Saúl – A Solar Destiny” (I.N.- C.M., 2004).
