Born in Lisbon in 1947, this artist obtained a degree in Painting with a specialization in Engraving from the School of Fine Arts in Lisbon. From 1984 to 1987, they taught Drawing at the Ricardo Espírito Santo Foundation – Institute of Arts and Crafts, and in 1985, they co-founded Grupumos alongside other artists. In addition to their artistic activities, they were also one of the founding members of the printmaking workshop Grafil, and worked as an engraver at the Portuguese Printmakers Cooperative. They are also a full member of the National Society of Fine Arts.
Throughout their career, they have held numerous solo and group exhibitions. Some notable examples include exhibitions at the Museum of Angra do Heroísmo (1977), Interior Gallery in Lisbon (1978), La Forge Gallery in Brussels (1981), Heidelberg Gallery in Germany (1986), João Hogan Gallery in Lisbon, Ferrol Museum in Spain (1989), Water, Sound and Dreams at the Water Museum of EPAL in Lisbon (1991), MAC – Movement of Contemporary Art in Lisbon, Margens, a timeless place at the Water Museum in Lisbon (1995), Landscapes of the Unconscious at Arte & Manifesto Gallery in Porto, Portuguese Embassy in Brussels, Belgium, Terra Ardente at J. Gomes Alves Gallery in Guimarães (1999), and Pathways of Light at the Cascais Cultural Center (2004). Their most recent participation was in the 2013 5th French-Japanese Festival of Visual Arts at the Okinawa Prefectural Museum and Art Museum in Japan.
